FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What if my story or article is less than 1000 words?
A. According to the service selected, the minimum charge for 1000 words would be applicable.

Q. Is there any discount if I select a package with a combination of services? Like proofreading and beta critique?
A. Currently we aren’t providing any discounted rates, but we might in the future. Stay tuned.

Q. Do you need only completed material or can I send my work-in-progress?
A. It is entirely upto you. In our experience, a work-in-progress usually needs multiple rounds of edits as the story proceeds towards completion.

Q. Do you guarantee that my work will get selected for publication after I use your services?
A. No. We are writers like you, wanting to help fellow writers with what we have learnt so far. And we are not a publishing company nor affiliated with any, so please do your market research and find the right publisher for your manuscript. Best of luck on your road to publication.

Q. What if I don’t agree with your critique?
A. There is no pressure. We are just offering our opinion of your work. You are free to accept or reject any suggestion. You are still the author.

Q. Do you critique erotica?
A. Yes. We do, but no pedophilia, incest, rapist as hero, necrophilia, or bestiality, please.

Q. What if we are not satisfied with your critique?
A. After we send you the first 1000 words after edits, you can always discontinue using our service.

Q. I need help with checking some historical facts. Should I choose the beta critique for that?
A. No. We aren’t experts on historical facts and hence we do not offer that service.

Q. Can I have your mailing address to send across my story?
A. We accept submissions only by email. Email to: critiqueservice@gmail.com

Q. Can you give us a format of the email we should send you?
A. Coming soon.

Q. Some places charge a fixed rate per page. Why don't you?
A. A double-spaced page is approximately 250-300 words. Doing per page may sound like less but actually can cost more in the long run.

Eg : Proofreading - Say someone offers at the rate of $3.95 per page. If one page is approx 275 words, then it costs approx $14.36 for 1000 words compared to our cost of $10 per 1000 words.

We suggest you take time to do the math. Computer word count will give exactly how much you're going to pay for our service.

Q. How do I make the payment?
A. Details will be sent along with our initial response.
